At Solid Ground Roasters, roasting coffee isn’t just a process — it’s a craft built on precision, patience, and purpose. Our long-time friend and master roaster James Pedrazzini and his talented team roast daily on two custom-built machines, taking exceptional care to ensure every batch delivers the perfect balance of flavour and consistency.
The Art of Manual Roasting
Unlike most commercial roasteries, James and his team roast manually, monitoring each batch by hand so the roast profile is met every single time. Throughout the day, they stay at the roaster — never walking away — to make the most of the thermal energy that naturally builds up. Softer coffees are roasted first, followed by denser beans as the day progresses, capturing every nuance of flavour and aroma.
The Blends
- Hero Blend — a beautifully balanced combination of beans from Brazil, Nicaragua, and Ethiopia, with smooth notes of Belgian chocolate and white stone fruit.
- Hulk Blend — a bold, full-bodied mix of coffees from Brazil and Papua New Guinea, delivering strength, depth, and a clean finish in milk or espresso.
Packed with Purpose
Every bag of our retail coffee is hand-weighed and packed by supported workers from Endeavour Foundation, providing meaningful employment for people with disabilities. And for every kilo roasted, we proudly donate $1 to SunnyKids, helping children and families build safer, brighter futures.
