How To Make Iced Coffee

The weather is warming up, the days are getting longer and the morning’s are getting brighter. This can only mean one thing, summer is here. But just because the weather is heating up doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy a refreshing cup of coffee in the morning. Iced coffee is a great way to mix up your coffee order in summer, and there are a range of ways you can enjoy it. Iced coffee can be suitable for white and black coffee drinkers alike, check out some of the popular ways to drink iced coffee, and how you can make it at home.

Traditional iced coffee

A traditional iced coffee combines an espresso shot with ice-cream and milk, and is sometimes even topped with whipped cream. An iced coffee is a popular choice in the summer months, particularly if you have a sweet tooth! Similar to a milkshake, a traditional iced coffee is a sweet, decadent way to consume your coffee. Traditional iced coffees aren’t just for cafes, you can easily make your own creation at home.

How to make traditional iced coffee

  1. Add a shot of espresso to a tall glass and top with milk
  2. Add 1-2 scoops of vanilla ice cream
  3. Optional: top with whipped cream

Iced latte

An iced latte is another way for white coffee drinkers to enjoy a cold coffee. Closer to a traditional coffee, an iced latte is the perfect summertime substitute for the latte, cappuccino and flat white drinkers among us. The preparation method will vary amongst cafes, but typically involves ice, an espresso shot and milk. It’s pretty simple, and easy to prepare at home as well.

How to make an iced latte

  1. Add a handful of ice cubes to a glass
  2. Add 1-2 shots of espresso
  3. Fill the rest of the glass with milk


Tip: If your regular coffee order includes an added flavour such as caramel, hazelnut, peppermint etc. you can add your preferred topping to your iced latte.

Iced long black

The black coffee drinkers don’t have to miss out on an iced coffee alternative. An iced long black is a delicious, refreshing option for the summer months if you would typically order a black coffee. It might sound strange, but once you try an iced long black, we can assure you, you will be hooked.

How to make an iced long black

  1. Add a handful of ice cubes to a glass
  2. Add 1-2 shots of espresso
  3. Fill the rest of the glass with cold water

Tip: Using filtered water will enhance the taste of your iced long black, give it a go!

Cold brew

Cold brew coffee is increasing in popularity, particularly amongst black coffee drinkers. Cold brew coffee is a batch brewing method which takes 12-18 hours to prepare. The result is a delicious, light, refreshing drink that will keep you going through summer.

How to make cold brew coffee

  1. Add you ground coffee beans to the filter
  2. Pour your filtered water over the coffee, trying to wet the grinds as evenly as possible
  3. Place the cold brew pot in the fridge, and allow the coffee to steep for around 12-18 hours
  4. Remove the filter and store in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
